The Assam College Teachers' Association (ACTA) was founded in the year of 1949 with the objectives of promoting quality education to the students apart from the responsibilities of framing high standard syllabi, text books and instruments for holding examinations. Along with these the other objectives were to provide support and help to all the college teachers to keep the unity and integrity among the teachers.

As a unit of this association the Chilarai College Teachers' Association (CCTA) was formed in the year 1979. The association in the beginning was run by the founder teachers. CCTA has played a significant role in shaping and building the college into a full-fledged institution for higher education. CCTA, apart from discharging its professional obligations, has made noteworthy sacrifice for the upliftment of the institution. CCTA got affiliated to ACTA in the year 1989. Since then CCTA has been trying to address issues concerning the faculties and related problems of higher education at the regional level. One of the members of CCTA is currently the District Executive of ACTA. CCTA, like the teachers' unit of other deficit colleges, sends two teachers to the Governing Body, who enlighten the administration about the problems and prospects of the of our college. At present there are fifteen members in CCTA.
