Department of History
Profile

The department of History started on 26/01/1973 along with the establishment of Chilarai College, Golakganj. The College. The College started with eight students, subjects including History one of them. Honours (Major) in Hisory was introduced on July, 1994. The first lecturer who joined the History Department was Mr. Naushad Zaman. He also served as a founder Principal of the College. Mr. Jatindra Nath Saha who was in the College from the beginning, served till 2005. He also served as a Principal of the College. The present Head of the Dept. Ms. Pratima Neogi joined on 24/04/1984 and still in service. Mrs. Krishna Bhowmick joined the dept. on 01/08/2000 and still in service. Later on Mr. Bangshi Badan Roy Sarkar joined the department and thus the present faculty consists of three members.

1. Students

  • Three female students having major in History are doing M. A. in Gauhati University.

  • 1 female student is practicing Law in Dhubri after doing B. A. Hons. from the department.

  • 1 student of the dept has got first class in M. A. under  Pune University and serving as a Subject Teacher.

  • 1 student of the dept. is serving in a High School in Meghalaya.

  • 1 student of the dept. after passing  joined C. R. P. F.                                     

2. Faculty
  • One of the permanent teachers of the dept. have been awarded M. Phil. Degree by the N. B. U.,Darjeeling.

  • One teacher has registered for her Ph. D. under  Gauhati University.

  • Teachers of the dept. have been participating in academic conferences & seminars.
  • The teachers have maintained linkage with the academic institutions like the ICHR, Dept. of History, N. B. U., Darjeeling ; Dept. of Folklore, Gauhati University; Assam Sahitya Sabha, Dhubri Branch, Dhubri.
  • One teacher has been submitted Dissertation of Minor Research Project, sponsored by U. G. C., NERO.
  • One teacher has been published a book from Assam Sahitya Sabha on 17th March 2007.
  • One teacher has published articles in different magazines.
