The department of Philosophy was opened with the establishment of the College. The department opened the Major Course in 1992. At the very beginning the department was run by one Tutorial Teacher Mr. Nripendra Nath Roy. But now the department has two permanent Sanctioned Lecturers and one Non sanctioned and three part time Lecturers. Mr. Keramat Ali Sheikh is the existing Head of the Department. The department is now going ahead with its resource faculties to achieve its objectives.

Department notifies for the Major application after the admission. Students getting above 50% marks in the H. S. Examination in the concerned subject may apply for Major. The enlisted candidates are asked to get admission within 7 days from date of the Notice. The admission fee is fixed by the College Office.

• The department holds a good result from the beginning. The department possesses more than 100 students with good marks in Major passed B. A. Examination.

• 48 students completed their P. G. Course from different Universities in India.

• More than 25 students have been appointed to service in different department.

• 5 students serve as Lecturers in various colleges.

• 2 students have got 1st class in Master degree under Gauhati University.
