Chilarai College is one of the few colleges of the state that has a special registered Research Centre formed under the patronage of former Chief Minister of Assam, Sri Sarat Ch. Sinha. The Centre has been carrying out research works in the area of Ethnic art, literature, culture and history. The centre has already published two major books written by Dr. D. N. Bhakat and several other publications are underway. The centre is likely to receive grants to carry out documentation project on Padmashree Pratima Barua Pandey. Dr. Jyotirmoy Prodhani is the secretary of the centre.  

Research Funding

The College faculty has been regularly participating in National and International Seminars and Academic Conferences. The UGC has provided financial support to five research projects of the College through Minor Research Grant Scheme. The College expects to get more research funding during the current academic year.
